Transitioning my wardrobe for Autumn/Winter

I can honestly say I love Autumn/Winter way more than Summer. I’m a girl that likes to be warm and cosy so I’m all for big jumpers and boots therefore you can bet I’m counting down the days until Summer officially ends.

I’ve been starting to slowly introduce new pieces into my wardrobe this last month in preparation for the cooler weather but I’m also trying not to spend an absolute fortune on a winter wardrobe.

Something I’m embracing more this year is florals; a pattern I would steer clear of in the past. I’ve purchased more midi and maxi dresses/skirts to pair up with chunky knits and oversized tees.

A colour I’m trying out more is white. When Freya was a lot younger I would never have risked wearing white but I’ve bought a few tops and t-shirts in this colour recently as it works with a multitude of patterns and denim.

Lastly I’m trying out more fitted styles of tops/jumpers/jackets. I’ve really struggled with my shape since having a baby and have stuck to oversized or baggier clothing. My confidence is slowly creeping back and I’m trying out new styles again. That includes this gorgeous fitted quilted jacket from Rydale Clothing. This style of jacket would have been too fitted for me in the past but now I actually wear it with confidence. I can’t wait for the cooler weather to continue so I can wear it all the time. I think it’s the perfect staple for winter that will work with dresses/skirts and even denim.

I’m willing the cooler weather to come but am happy to wait until after our holiday to Rome soon. After that, roll on Autumn/Winter so I can wear all the chunky knits and jackets.

The perfect Winter footwear

This isn’t an outdoor footwear post talking about the perfect boot I’m afraid. That’s right, I’m talking about super comfy, cosy slippers for pottering around the house.

Now I’m getting older, I remember my mum always telling me to wear slippers round the house to stop complaining about cold feet. Finally I’ve realised her advice was good and that’s when Lazy Dogz came into my life.

Lazy Dogz are slipper specialists who have been in business since 2001. They pride themselves on producing luxurious footwear that looks and feels amazing.

I was sent this beautiful pair of Sandy Moccasin slippers, which fit like a glove and are dreamy in how they feel when you wear them.

On closer inspection it’s clear to see they think of the detail as the stitching was exact, the lovely fluffy lining inside is just the right amount of warmth and the pretty gold bow adds that extra something to the top.

They are also really practical on the sole as they have rubber parts giving you good grip on a slippy surface like tiles/laminate which is ideal in our house.

I have owned many a pair of slippers over the years but this may be my comfiest pair yet! They retail at £35 (*which was correct at the time of writing this*) and for every pair of Lazy Dogz slippers sold before Christmas Eve 2016, they will donate £1 to the Manchester Dogs Home. (Another reason I absolutely love this company)

So if you are looking for a new pair of slippers or you don’t get quite the right pair for Christmas, then check this fab company out.

My Christmas clothes wishlist…

So I thought I would write a post about what I’m wishing for. Fingers crossed I get some for Christmas, but if I’m honest I am fully expecting to get stuff for our new home from everyone. Instead of asking Bob or myself what we want ourselves for Christmas, the general theme of the conversations seems to be “What do you need for the house?” It feels very grown up now and very realistic all of a sudden. I am extremely excited to get things for the house though, as it means we have less to spend ourselves and can then afford to buy the things on my wishlist. Here goes…

1. Silver semi-sheer pumps I love these from New Look and going into Spring i think they would look fab with some turned up jeans and a cami top. What a steal as well!

2. Wide Fit gold pointed loafers When I saw these, again from New Look, i literally was in lust. I am intending to purchase these as a gift to myself before Christmas i think 😀

3. Asos swing dress This is a very wintery item but i may have to treat myself to it soon from ASOS. I think its look incredible and would be fab paired with some black chunky ankle boots.

4. Goldie ascot trousers these gorgeous trousers are again from Asos and look so flattering and comfy. I have a couple of similar pairs already that are patterned and I wore on holiday but a pair like this look really elegant.

5. Dip dye fringe cardigan This Cardigan is currently in store in Topshop and i love it. If i can get round to getting it, i would pair it with some skinny jeans and killer heels for a night with the girls or a date night.

6. Coated Tuck midi skirt This amazing skirt from Topshop has been on my mind for a while. I saw a sales assistant wearing something like this in another shop but haven’t seen it until now. I may have to splurge and get myself this a la Carrie bradshaw.

I’m fully aware that most of this are quite dark colours and this isnt like me at all. my wardrobe is full of colour but strangely i have been drawn to all these pieces anyway. Hope you like what i’ve chosen and whe i get round to purchasing some of these beauties, i will style it up and post again.

Thanks for reading

Laura 😀
