If you’re a follower of mine on Instagram then you may have seen that I’ve been incorporating a good skincare routine back into my life lately in a bid to banish those blemishes. It got me thinking about other ways to take care of myself and not necessarily those of a pampering nature.
When I was younger and pre baby, I made a lot of time for myself to go to the gym and have regular facials or face masks and even painted my nails. Now I’m lucky if I have time to even contemplate painting my nails, my face mask is done in bed before I go to sleep, and exercise consists of running around after an almost 1-year-old and climbing up and down a children’s climbing frame in the name of squeezing my butt down a slide with said child.
When you become a mum you suddenly put this tiny person 1st above everything and anything and that includes washing your hair. Dry shampoo is BAE and you don’t even flinch when telling someone you’ve gone 5 days without washing your hair. You really do neglect yourself in those first 12 months unless you’re completely on the ball and motherhood is just second nature (those lucky few!). I suddenly have a new-found understanding of what all those women before me have been through and find myself sitting alongside them.
Well now it’s time to embrace the new me and that includes making more time for myself even if that means waiting for my child to fall asleep.
I’ve made no secret of the fact that shifting all of the pregnancy pounds I gained, has been anything but easy. In fact at 4 months postpartum I could fit back into my pre-pregnancy jeans but the reality is, I’m still around 10lbs heavier even now.
When I was offered the chance to review the Nutribuddy Breakfast, I was 100% on board as managing to eat breakfast every day has been a struggle from day of 1 of looking after a tiny human. It might sound pathetic but days can go by and you can easily miss a meal or 2 each day due to caring for your little one. A lot of people would think this is the answer to weight loss and the pounds should be slipping off me by now but the truth is your body holds onto fats if it thinks it’s being starved.
Once my order was placed, it appeared in the post in no time and it was time to start enjoying my breakfast shakes. I ordered a 14 day supply of the Chocolate Brownie flavour shake which is a blend of organic oats, seeds and coconut.
If you read my blog regularly, cast your mind back to early December when I wrote all about tracking my sleep and how it was benefitting my sleeping pattern and habits. Now I’m back for another sleep related feature but this time it’s all about the thing you sleep on; your mattress!
Hopefully you are aware that having a bad mattress can give you back problems as well as a bad sleeping pattern, but if you’ve paid attention to any of those bed adverts on the TV, you’ll know that you should change your mattress every 8 years roughly. 8 years ago, Bob & I were 18 and lived at home with hand me down mattresses as you do, and unsurprisingly when we bought our first house last year, one of said hand me down’s came with us.
Fast forward 6 months and the lovely folks at Leesa dropped me an email to offer me one of their amazing mattresses: BRILLIANT!
(how the Leesa Mattress arrived – can you believe it’s in there?!)
