It’s a New Year

If you’d have shown me a picture of my life today, this time last year; I would never have believed you.

2017 was a year of incredible things including:

Buying ourselves our dream cars.

Getting married after 9 years together.

Finding out I was pregnant, finding out it was a girl and then in September; giving birth to our daughter Freya Penelope Ella Moore.

Being chosen as an Origins Ambassador for the York store.

Our families always joke that we never do things far apart and always seem to have a lot going on at once. In 2016 we got engaged, went on holiday, bought our first home and both got promotions to name a few.

So when it comes to 2018, we are both hoping it will be a little calmer than the previous couple of years have been. Here are a few of the things we are looking forward to.

I will be continuing as an Origins Ambassador and arranging a few more events with the York store so keep your eyes peeled as there is one coming in February.

Our first family holiday abroad and hopefully a UK break as well.

A family wedding in 4 weeks time.

Freya’s first birthday in September! (she’s only just over 3 months so we have a while to go thankfully)

I don’t know what else this year has in store for us other than my maternity leave ending later in the year and returning to work. I hope there are surprises and lots of laughter as we watch our little one turn into a toddler. When it comes to myself, I intend to shift 5-7 lbs of weight that I still haven’t managed to get rid of since having Freya. I also plan on using some Christmas money to reinvent my style a little as I feel like I’ve outgrown my old wardrobe and without a doubt have outgrown my skinny jeans.

Here’s to a wonderful year full of health and happiness.

The Ultimate Wedding Checklist

As you all know, I got married earlier in the year & when it comes to planning a wedding, it is easy to let stress get on top of you. Sometimes it can be difficult to look forward to the day itself because you are so caught up in all of the minor details. That is why it is important to take a step back and evaluate the situation. Anything is possible; you just need to plan ahead. If you are wondering where to start, you will need to read on. Below is the ultimate wedding checklist.

Decide on a venue

In order to get your invites out on time, you will need to prioritise the selection of your venue. Make sure that you choose a location that you are truly in love with. You should be aiming for a venue that you are happy to remember for the rest of your life. If you are struggling for options, why not look online? This will make the process much simpler, as you will be able to filter your search results. Say you are trying to find wedding venues in Northamptonshire, there are plenty of incredible locations for you to choose from.

Select your refreshments

If you are going to show your guests a good time, it is vital that you have plenty of food and drink to offer them. Make sure that you attend tastings when you are making your decisions. This will save you from being disappointed on the big day. It will also help you to pair together your choices. Don’t be afraid to ask your loved ones for advice. Try to find someone who is especially picky, as this is a great way for you to be certain of honest feedback.

Getting myself wedding ready

It is now 7 days until I am a married lady and as I write this post, in exactly 7 days time we will all be sat down at the wedding breakfast enjoying some good food.

The last month has absolutely flown by and everyone is commenting on how the wedding has come round so quick in general. For the last 4 weeks however I have been trying to prep my body for the big day with a big focus on skin and hair.

One of the perks of pregnancy is that your hair and nails grow quicker and I have noticed this with my nails but my hair has decided to do whatever the heck it wants and resembles a shrub most of the time. Don’t get me wrong it’s got the length but sometimes it’s flat but full of static and others it’s like I’ve been dragged through a hedge. John Frieda luxurious volume products have been my go to lately and I’ve found that they’ve helped to tame my mane.

I’ve been using the 3 products above religiously for the past 4 weeks and can hand on heart say my hair definitely has a bit more volume in it. My hair is naturally wavy so unless I get some heat on there, it looks like a lion’s mane but I have definitely seen some improvement in the way it looks.

Now moving onto skin and this has become the bane of my life throughout my pregnancy so far. Hormones have launched a full-scale attack on my mug and spots have set up base. This has meant a complete overhaul of my skin care and even a couple of weeks break from using any products at all.

I decided to go back to using my Dermalogica favourites; the special cleansing gel and multi-active toner. These products have really helped to stop a mass eruption on my face but don’t get me wrong, I am still getting a few spots. These aren’t miracle products at the end of the day! I also added a light moisturiser to my routine: L’oreal Triple active anti shine. I’ve had this product in my stock for a few months and bought it in Wilkinsons on a whim one day but I do love how light it is on the skin and doesn’t feel greasy. It also does mattify the skin which is great for use as a primer before putting on your slap.

The downside of pregnancy is that your hormones are changing all the time so these products all might work at the minute but they may not continue to do so and a switch up may be needed again. For the minute though I am enjoying these products but hope that if you’re reading this and thinking you might give them a try, don’t forget nothing works miracles and it’s all about trial and error sometimes.
