Last week I was invited to The Botanist 1st Birthday Celebration’s in York and when the invite landed in my email inbox, I was excited to go out an enjoy a few drinks. Bob was on baby duty so I asked his mum to come along to the event with me which she kindly accepted.
I’d only actually been to The Botanist twice since it opened; mainly because I’d been pregnant since January and drinking obviously was not an option. I took my mum to a cocktail tasting event earlier in the year and enjoyed mocktails whilst she enjoyed the alcohol. The next time I went was during the day for some training and rather than drinking, I enjoyed their incredible lunch menu.
This week I had the absolute pleasure of being one of the lucky selected few to attend the #DiscoverOrigins event in the new York store hosted by the lovely Em Sheldon.
I will hold my hands up at this early stage and say that Origins was not a brand I had ever tried. I was familiar with them and had seen Em rave about their products but had never plucked up the courage to spend the pennies in case it didn’t work for me. If you’re familiar with York, then the store is located down Stonegate near Little Betty’s and occupies the most characterful building with impressive original beams and slightly wonky feeling. This is part of the charm of a lot of buildings located in York and is one of the many reasons I love living a stone’s throw outside the city.
A couple of weeks ago I was invited along to The Botanist York for the launch of some of their new cocktails. Now I bet you’re all thinking “Laura, you’re pregnant, you can’t drink!” and you are correct. Luckily for me, they were kind enough to make me an array of mocktails whilst I brought my mum along as my plus 1 so she could enjoy the cocktail goodness.
Having never been to the Botanist before, I was intrigued to find out more and being a lover of cocktails in general, I was excited to see some of the things, I had heard so much about.
For those of you that know York, The Botanist is located in Stonegate and is a fab corner building that you can’t miss and is more spacious than it first appears. When you go upstairs you find a corridor of many rooms that look like someone’s house.
Now let’s get to the important part; the drinks.
Things kicked off with 2 Strawberry and Elderflower Bellinis for mum
And a mocktail called All The Greens for me which tasted amazing.
