A Home refresh with Home Bargains

Spring is the perfect time to clean your home or change it up a bit and now that the weather is beginning to look up some days, I’m trying my best to do both this and be a mum to a crazy-teething 7 month old.

I was lucky enough to receive a fab bundle of goodies from Home Bargains to help me get started with Spring cleaning the house.

I’m not going to be overly optimistic but some house goals we have for Spring/Summer include:

Regularly steam mopping the tiles/laminate flooring. This might seem like a ridiculous one but I’m pretty good at staying on top of hoovering but always forget about the steam mop in the cupboard. I ticked it off the list this morning but I want to make sure I do it at least once a week now that Freya is regularly throwing her food around the house.

Light the Candles in the home and use the diffusers. We have a ton of candles at home and several unopened reed diffusers waiting to be used up. I need to make sure we light the existing ones more often and burn them down so we can get through our stockpile and clear some room in the cupboards.

Deep clean the bathroom. Again I feel pretty confident that I maintain a fairly tidy home as well as being a first time mama but I’d love to deep clean the bathrooms more like I did when I was nesting.

Re-paint the living room and en suite/downstairs toilet. We desperately need to repaint the lounge and have been thinking about a brand new colour rather than touching up the existing paintwork. We also have plans to paint the en suite and downstairs toilet a neutral colour as well as sort the tiling out.

Other plans include jet washing the patio area and repainting some stonework we have round the plants and wallpapering a wall in the spare bedroom. It sounds like a lot of work and trying to do it around Bob working full-time and raising out tiny human will be a challenge but hopefully with nice weather, we can introduce Freya more to our already lovely garden and get some summer toys for her to enjoy. Have you got any plans for a refresh in your home this year?

Planning our first family holiday

As you well know, I recently had my first child and also got married. The fact that I was 5 months pregnant when we got married and then it became all about getting the house baby ready, a honeymoon was basically never an option.

Fast forward to my little girl being 3 months old and we are now starting to plan our first holiday as a family for 2018.

The main things we are looking for in our holiday are:

Good Food

Good Accommodation with a pool

Flight time of 5 hours or less

Somewhere not too hot since our little one won’t be very old yet

One of the places we have looked at is Majorca.

Taking advantage of the Garden

It’s been absolutely stunning weather of late and despite being 6 months pregnant, I’ve tried to take advantage of the nice weather and get in the garden. We are super lucky to have inherited a beautiful garden when we bought the house last year and have made sure we’ve kept up with maintenance as not to ruin the aesthetic.

Now we’re into summer time and spending more time in the garden with friends round the BBQ, it’s got me thinking about how to make the garden more of our own instead of inheriting it from someone else.

We’ve planted a lot of new flowers and moved some bulbs round to fit our liking and don’t worry those ball shrubs in the picture have grown back in volume and look beautiful.

We also inherited some garden furniture when we moved in which was fantastic as it was summer when we got the keys but now I think it’s time to start looking at new furniture that suits us a bit more.

I’ve used Fishpools before when browsing and buying homeware/garden accessories so immediately I thought about them when getting some inspiration. One of my favourite garden looks is Rattan furniture and they have a fantastic range of dining sets on offer; meaning plenty to choose from.

My 2 favourite sets that they do are:

Margarita Round Rattan table with 4 chairs in grey

and

Margarita Grey Rattan Sofa Dining Set with Ice Bucket

You can get bigger dining sets than these but as much as our garden is large with a big grass/plant area, the patio is not huge and we have a BBQ so we wouldn’t want anything that took up too much room.

As well as Rattan furniture dining sets, they also sell a range of garden accessories, lighting, daybeds, sun loungers and parasols. You can literally get everything you should need for your garden in one place.

Due to baby Moore arriving in 4 months time, the urge to spend money on the garden may have to take a backseat until next summer now but this site will be the first place I go to when planning to spend.
