After struggling with my pale as hell skin colour for years and wishing I had a permanent tan, I have finally come to terms that it’s never gonna happen! I have searched the shops high and low for the best foundations that suit my skin and finally I have found a good bunch that work for me.
First up is two foundations from The Body Shop in the Extra Virgin Minerals range. Now having checked on the website, I’m gutted because you can’t buy either of these products anymore but they do a fab range of foundation anyway so no doubt I will find something anyway. I bought the palest creme minerals foundation as well as the liquid foundation. The creme product is amazingly light on the skin and looks completely natural. I will be looking to find another product just like this in future as it works wonders. The liquid foundation offers fab coverage as well but is a little thicker and leaves you with a dewy look rather than a blended option like the creme. Again, it’s a great product for those days when you have a lodger on your face.
My next 2 favourite foundations are definitely still on the market in the shape of Rimmel London. I wear Porcelain shades in both the Match Perfection and the Stay Matte Foundation. Both of these products are great to wear and don’t feel like you are slathering it all over your face. These have been my go to products for ages and they will always be on my repurchase list. I would say the Match perfection blends easier and leaves the skin with a light coverage but the stay matte definitely lasts all day but does go on a bit thicker.
I hope you’ve discovered some brands you wouldn’t normally purchase and it inspires you to go out and try them.
It’s that time again, where I post my monthly empties and exhale when I finally manage to get rid of some more beauty products that seem to never end. Honestly I am obsessed with buying beauty bits and pieces but I really need to use some up before buying anymore. This month I’ve stuck to my usual theme of 5 products, so here you go…
First up was Charles Worthington Straight & Smooth Conditioner. I finally finished the bottle which seemed to last forever which is wonderful as it saves you money. It definitely gives you smoother locks and helped the ends of my hair from looking dry. I tend to leave my hair naturally wavy so this conditioner probably isn’t the best if you keep your hair like mine and would be better suited to someone looking for a straighter look. It’s also perfect for those of us with frizzy hair as well, this is a massive pain for me so look no further people. You can currently snap this up from Boots for £5.99 or on a 3for2 offer.
Next up was another bottle of M&S bath oil in the ISIS scent; yes i know forgive the name, the smell is actually lovely. I absolutely love bath products and enjoy a good pamper nowadays so these oils have been lovely to us. I still have a bottle left from M&S in another scent so I can’t wait to start using that one. Unfortunately these came as part of a big set and they no longer sell them in M&S.
I finished a roll on deodorant which I had never tried before which was the Vaseline Aloe sensitive. I’ve been using roll on deodorants for a while now because I don’t particularly enjoy the spray on ones. I own a couple but I prefer a roll on much more. This is a fab one for sensitive skin especially if you get dry skin on your underarms. I would definitely buy this one again but I’m currently testing out another so time will tell. This is currently on offer in Asda for £1.75.
Next up was my travel sized Dermalogica Clear Start foaming facial wash. I am gutted I never found this beauty of a product before as it’s been so good on my skin. I started using it as part of the clean start kit where it features 5 travel sized versions to trial before you buy the full-sized versions. I have already bought this one again as I absolutely love it and will keep it as a staple in my beauty regime now. You can purchase it direct from Dermalogica’s website for £13.10.
Lastly I used up a tube of Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation in Ivory. Normally this shade is way to dark but I came back from New Zealand with a slight tan on the face so it was perfect. I tend to go for the palest shades as I am casper like so this isn’t my perfect shade but it does offer fantastic coverage and it’s one of my go to products for hiding imperfections. This is also currently on a 3for2 offer in Boots of £5.99 on its own.
Thanks for checking out my empties this month and I hope you all have a brilliant New Year, see you in 2016!
