Proactiv+ Repairing Concealer

Back in June, I featured the Proactiv + 3 step system for clear skin and shared my results.

Well I’m back with another Proactiv beauty in the form of the Repairing Concealer. This little pot contains 4 fantastic shades of concealer, all of which have salycilic acid in them to help combat spots and breakouts.

Inside the packaging there is also a great little brush which makes it easy to blend the shades to get something that matches your skin tone as needed.

When I first opened the concealer, I was a little concerned that the shades would be a bit too dark but I was surprisingly wrong. The lightest 2 shades were easy to blend together and dab onto any marks or blemishes on my skin and definitely made them easier to hide.

The main thing I liked about this product was that it contains spot fighting chemicals meaning you don’t feel guilty about dabbing on makeup to cover up. If you are like me, you hate putting makeup on your skin especially when its spotty. I always worry I am just adding to my skin woes more. This fab concealer helps combat the area you have dabbed it onto and is easy to take off at the end of the day as well.

I have to admit, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this product after not really thinking much to the 3 step system I tested out before. I always share my honest reviews and thoughts but I will always suggest trying a product yourself, as what works on my skin, might not work for everyone and vice versa.

The main pro’s of this product are that the shades are pretty true to skin when blended if required, it contains spot fighting capabilities and it’s easy to use and dab over a blemish.

I hope you’ve got something from this little review, I have lots more reviews planned over the next few weeks and finally feel as though I have my blogging mojo back.

Proactiv+ Does it Really Work?

Way back in February this year, I noticed Proactiv skincare were looking to work with bloggers on a 8-10 week trial basis. I applied and was lucky enough to be one of 20 bloggers chosen to take part and test out the Proactiv+ products for themselves. Within a week, I received this gorgeous box of products to put to test on my skin.

010

Just like in the past, I thought it was vital I shared a photo of my skin pre-Proactiv skincare to show off the full results and give it a full review process. Here was my no makeup selfie from before I started testing the products and as you can see, my skin wasn’t looking to bad to start with.

010

I started with the skin smoothing exfoliator 2 x a day to give my skin a gentle exfoliation.

024

Then I used a pearl sized amount of the pore targeting treatment face cream all over my face, again 2 x a day to targets those pesky pores.

023

Next up is the complexion perfecting hydrator which is a light moisturiser with spot fighting qualities to be used, yes you guessed it, 2 x a day.

022

Last up and used maybe 1 or 2 times a week is the skin purifying mask which has some exfoliating properties and thoroughly cleanses the skin.

014

So after 10 weeks of trialling out this product, I’m going to share the selfies with you first before my honest thoughts.

026 005

As you can see, half way through the trial, my skin was looking good and spots were kept at bay but by the end which was only taken a couple of days ago, my skin had gone into meltdown.

I’m not one to shy away from sharing my spotty selfies because I think it’s best to be honest. I have liked the Proactiv+ skincare routine but I haven’t found it beneficial long-term on my skin. I’ve also been stressed lately with the house purchase so I think hormones have come into play the last few weeks.

Here’s my honest opinion about this skincare routine:

If you have bad skin then you will probably find this routine excellent, as it’s not too heavy and doesn’t have any major ingredients that sting or hurt the skin.

It’s actually a great value routine and having grown up thinking it was out my budget, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall price.

I don’t think personally I would buy this routine again after finding other cleansers that have worked better on my skin. I got told by a skincare specialist that my skin doesn’t like anything gritty and that’s 100% true when it comes to cleansers, I have found the creamy cleansers work far better for me.

Should you try it out?

Yes, everyone’s skin is different and it would be difficult for me to preach for or against this product. I liked it throughout the routine but have now switched to a cream cleanser for sensitive skin to try to get my skin back into better condition.

I hope you’ve found this useful, please leave me your links if you’ve reviewed the Proactiv+ products as well.

Proactiv+ meets my face

A short while ago, I was given the opportunity to review the Proactiv + 3 step system and told to review it for 8-10 weeks for optimum results. Now that I am 4 weeks in to the review process, I wanted to share my results thus far.

011

As part of the review, I received the skin smoothing exfoliator, the pore targeting treatment, complexion perfecting hydrator and the skin purifying mask. The process itself is relatively easy to follow as each of the treatments has a coloured dot on the packaging showing you the order to use them in.

My aim of this trial has been to get my skin in good enough condition that I don’t worry about slathering on foundation every day to cover up spots. I have no issue nowadays sharing no make up photos on my blog, but the thought of heading to work without foundation on makes me cringe. My skin has been having some ups and downs of late and I want to show you the honest results up to now. In 4 weeks time I will be sharing the full results and a more in-depth review of the products.

Week 1

010

Week 4

026

As you can see, a lot of the blemishes have cleared up but there is still the odd blotchiness or scarring from previous spots. I never expect miracles but hopefully in 4 weeks time, I will see my skin looking a lot clearer. So please keep your eyes peeled for my review coming soon.
