Getting Back to Basics

Lately, I am ashamed to say I have slipped with my skincare routine a few times. Tut Tut I hear you all say but unfortunately it’s been pure laziness some times and I hold my hands up in full on shame mode. It’s the start of 2016 and I am officially back on the skincare bandwagon and determiend to get my skin into better condition.

I am horrified with how my skin has gotten lately and have been treating myself to some more expensive skincare options in order to find the right combination. I have been using my Magnitone Lucid brush again to try and combat those pesky breakouts and keep my skin smooth. Like every woman, I suffer with breakouts more so when hormones are flaring but this is just a fact of life, I doubt I’ll ever fight that problem.

I am inspired by Em over My Pale Skin Blog who has posted some incredible videos featuring her skin woes and some pictures on her Instagram showing her skin progress. It makes me think there is at least some hope that my skin can improve even if it is a long process and a slog.

I will be sharing more barefaced selfies this year after feeling incredibly proud of myself doing it last year. I hope any of you reading this will be inspired to share your own stories if you have had skincare issues and leave me a comment to say Hi.

Magnitone Lucid 28 day review

Way back at the beginning of May I wrote about my 7 day review of the Magnitone Lucid brush and at the time, I saw a bit of improvement but in my opinion, 7 days to test something is not long enough. I decided that I would do a full review of the cleansing brush over 28 days and show you guys the results so you could decide if it was worth buying for yourself.

As per my first review of this brush I am going to share some pretty gruesome makeup free snaps of my face after using the brush. I took the snaps every Sunday without fail and was pretty impressed with the results myself when I look back at the snaps over the 4 weeks. So here we go…

As you can see, my skin was pretty spotty at the start of the 4 weeks and I genuinely thought there was no way the Magnitone Lucid would improve my skin. After the 1st week I saw a lot less redness on my skin and not many new blemishes were appearing. This just seemed to improve over the 4 weeks and as you can see from the last post, my skin cleared up immensely.

I used my Magnitone Lucid brush with my Kiehls Calendula cleanser every day before bed and then used a Toner and moisturiser before bed. I missed the odd day using the brush and definitely noticed it, as my skin then flared up a bit after that. Needless to say I would be a bit lost without this fantastic brush now and have been really impressed with the results of my skin now.

Magnitone 7 Day Challenge*

At the end of April/early May I took part in a twitter chat called #BHTWITTERPARTY being ran by the lovely people at Bloggers Love Hub. I attended one of these before and it was a fab way to talk to other bloggers and get to know about some brands. On this occasion it was Magnitone that were a front-runner of the chat and we were given the opportunity to fill in a form to be selected to try out one of their fab Magnitone Lucid Brushes.

As you know, my skin and I do not have a great relationship and I am always looking out for new ways to create harmony. I quickly filled out my form and a few days later I got an email telling me I had been successful in being selected to review a brush!!!! I was so excited as I waited for the post to get my new cleansing brush and try it out for myself. One saturday after work I drove to the post office and collected my brush and rushed home to start trying out the Magnitone Lucid for myself.

I decided to take a photo every other day to show my progress so you can see myself and I won’t lie…. it petrified me that you will all see my ugly mug without makeup but here goes….

Day 7) with some concealer on to show how much better the coverage looks now

You may look at the pictures and think it doesn’t look much different or any better but I have just crossed day 7 yesterday and my skin feels a lot better. It did take some getting used to every day, to get up and use the cleansing brush on a morning with my Kiehls cleansing wash was a big change to my routine. That’s because I never had much of a routine before a couple of weeks ago. My skin still has spots, and looks a bit red in areas but it has improved a lot. I love this Magnitone brush and definitely am feeling the #lucidlove now that it has changed my skin care routine.

The brush itself has 2 settings; Deep Clean & sensitive. For someone like myself the┬ásensitive mode is recommended at first for 1 minute of cleansing per day. The brush is 100% waterproof which is fab because you don’t have to worry about getting water on any of the brush itself. It comes with a wireless travel charger which lasts 2 weeks! How amazing is that?! There is also a 20 second timer on the settings which prompts you to change which part of the face you are concentrating on each time. You cannot go wrong with this cleansing brush at all!

It has definitely taken some courage for me to share these pictures with you as my skin is literally a nightmare for me and is the thing that knocks my confidence the most. I would love nothing more than leaving with just a bit of BB cream on in a morning and having a nice clear complexion. Fingers crossed as I continue to use this brush and my Kiehls cleansing products, I see a big difference as I never expected miracles in a week.

I would definitely recommend this brush and as a thank you to you all for hopefully not judging my dreadful makeup free selfies too badly, I have a 20% discount code that you can use to buy one of these bad boys for yourself.
