Finding the Perfect Wedding day Lipstick

The big day is coming round pretty quickly and in less than 6 months I will be a wife and have a husband.

In all the wedding craziness, I’m sometimes awake late at night thinking about the little touches and trying not to forget anything. Something that didn’t cross my mind is makeup really at first and I guessed I would end up doing it myself. Needless to say my friend abruptly stopped that idea and pointed out that I would probably regret not having it done professionally. She was right and I have now finally found a makeup artist for the big day who I am excited to meet and have my trial with in the new year.

It also got me thinking about the perfect shade of lipstick for the wedding as despite not really wearing anything, I would like to up my look for the day and feel more elegant than usual. That’s when I discovered Love, Honour & Be True. They make lipsticks especially for the big day that are weightless, moisturising and long-lasting.

The range comes in 5 amazing colours aptly named to fit the wedding day: Blushing Bride, I Do, Just Married, Kiss the Bride and Love Story.

The 2 that I now have ready for my wedding day are I Do and Kiss the Bride.

To properly put them to the test before deciding the right one, I tested them out with my Pebble Grey illuminating mirror. This fab mirror illuminates your face as well as magnifying it so you can really see how your skin looks when applying makeup. I’ve had it for a while now and it’s definitely made putting my makeup on, much easier.

The results of the makeup tests are below and I have to say I Do is definitely my favourite of the two lipsticks. I love how subtle it is on the lip and how natural it made me look. I think this is my lipstick of choice for the big day!

So overall I am over the moon with both of these lipsticks and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a subtle lip colour for their wedding day. If you are looking yourself and reading this now then definitely check out the link above.

Born Pretty: What A Beauty?

Way back before Christmas I was contacted to work with the lovely people at BornPrettyMakeup who I avidly followed on Twitter. I was more than thrilled having perused the site and found some amazing beauty bargains on there. Unfortunately due to travel commitments and generally being a bad blogger, I am only just getting round to writing up a post about the site. Luckily they have been so lovely about it and I’m keen to share the site and some of the amazing products on there.

I chose to review a few of the lovely bits and was keen to compare them once they arrived. I chose a gorgeous pink lip liner, a bright pink lipstick and a great little sculpted brush for eyeshadow or even highlighting the cheek bones.

I love the colour of the lip liner and lipstick however it’s not my normal shade. the consistency is perfect on both of them and really easy to apply and use. The colour lasted really well when I tested it out and I thought I would swatch to show you below.

They have some amazing bargains on this site and all in, these three items totalled less than $12 which is amazing considering that’s $’s as well, not £’s.The makeup brush is super soft and bristles haven’t come off yet which is great considering it’s such a bargain. I normally never expect things like this to last this well. They do all sorts of items including jewellery, hair items, makeup and makeup brushes, Nail polish and gel as well as nail art accessories. They even have items of clothing, phone cases and tablet cases, stationary items, homeware items and even watches. I absolutely love this site and in terms of shipping, I was really impressed with the time scales it took to be delivered. I thought it would take around a month to arrive but it only took a couple of weeks.

I have an exclusive 10% off code, which makes the bargains even more crazy and definitely makes you want to spend more money. So don’t waste time, check out this great site and grab some fab bits and pieces.

The MAC Rebel Dupe

A couple of weeks ago, I blogged about the lovely Rebel shade of MAC lipstick I was lucky enough to win in a competition. I thought I would take a new spin on the lipstick and write about a dupe that I have found that is remarkably similar and a tiny fraction of the price compared to MAC. I actually stumbled upon the dupe shade first and fell in love with it. It comes from the lovely people of Makeup Revolution, costs a mere £1 and is called Vamp.

Now looking at the pictures above on the right, you can see the two shades are pretty similar in colour when they are just stood side by side.

From above, you can’t really tell the different if you didn’t have the packaging on them. There is a tiny difference when you look closely and you can see that the MAC shade is a little bit lighter than the Makeup Revolution one. This is more obvious when you swatch the shades on your hand. The Makeup Revolution shade is on the left and the MAC one on the right.

Despite the slight colour difference, I think this bargain £1 shade is a great example of a dupe that is affordable and a quick option. Not everyone can afford the £15.50 price tag that comes with the MAC lipstick and I will raise my hand and say I am pretty stingey with my money and would more than likely choose the Makeup Revolution lipstick myself, purely on cost. I absolutely love both the lipsticks and would recommend either of them to anyone.
