It’s a New Year

If you’d have shown me a picture of my life today, this time last year; I would never have believed you.

2017 was a year of incredible things including:

Buying ourselves our dream cars.

Getting married after 9 years together.

Finding out I was pregnant, finding out it was a girl and then in September; giving birth to our daughter Freya Penelope Ella Moore.

Being chosen as an Origins Ambassador for the York store.

Our families always joke that we never do things far apart and always seem to have a lot going on at once. In 2016 we got engaged, went on holiday, bought our first home and both got promotions to name a few.

So when it comes to 2018, we are both hoping it will be a little calmer than the previous couple of years have been. Here are a few of the things we are looking forward to.

I will be continuing as an Origins Ambassador and arranging a few more events with the York store so keep your eyes peeled as there is one coming in February.

Our first family holiday abroad and hopefully a UK break as well.

A family wedding in 4 weeks time.

Freya’s first birthday in September! (she’s only just over 3 months so we have a while to go thankfully)

I don’t know what else this year has in store for us other than my maternity leave ending later in the year and returning to work. I hope there are surprises and lots of laughter as we watch our little one turn into a toddler. When it comes to myself, I intend to shift 5-7 lbs of weight that I still haven’t managed to get rid of since having Freya. I also plan on using some Christmas money to reinvent my style a little as I feel like I’ve outgrown my old wardrobe and without a doubt have outgrown my skinny jeans.

Here’s to a wonderful year full of health and happiness.

A new level of comfort

Earlier this year I discovered the world of half + half mattresses. That’s right you heard me correct.

A half + half mattress is essentially where one half is on style of firmness and the other half, a completely different style. I knew these existed but initially thought they would be extremely expensive before discovering Tweak Mattress.

Since buying my first home, I’ve discovered just how important it is to have a good mattress and when the opportunity to review a mattress from Tweak fell into my lap, I wholeheartedly jumped at the chance.

Here’s a quote directly from the website:

“Your journey to a
better night’s sleep”

“We are all individual in our sleep habits but often we compromise on our comfort needs to satisfy our partner. What if you could each find your perfect level of comfort? We set out to design and manufacture the ultimate mattress with a half-and-half comfort layer. The result is Tweak. A bespoke, tailor-made mattress redesigned for couples.”

All Tweak mattresses are made in the UK with a 10-year warranty and are made up of 1800 individual pocket springs.

Once well aware of the facts, I placed my order and selected a mattress with half firm and half soft cushioning. I also got given a medium firm insert to swap in if I decided the firmness wasn’t quite right on one side.

My opinion after having using this mattress for a couple of months now is how comfortable the mattress is on both sides. I haven’t been disappointed in comfort or the fact that I don’t seem to overheat when sleeping on it. A problem I have had on other mattresses and is a genuine issue for people.

The mattresses range from a double to a super king and cost wise they start at £840 and go all the way up to £990. Tweak offer 0% finance on their mattresses with free delivery which is another unique selling point for a web based shop. The fact that they let you try the mattress out for 100 nights before making your mind up fully, is also a great win as it gives you time to make up your mind fully.

I’m really impressed with this company and their product and would definitely recommend them to friends or family in fact I already have.

If you’re on the lookout for a new mattress with a little something different then have a look on their site and see if it takes your fancy.

Getting a Better Night’s Sleep

If you read my blog regularly, cast your mind back to early December when I wrote all about tracking my sleep and how it was benefitting my sleeping pattern and habits. Now I’m back for another sleep related feature but this time it’s all about the thing you sleep on; your mattress!

Hopefully you are aware that having a bad mattress can give you back problems as well as a bad sleeping pattern, but if you’ve paid attention to any of those bed adverts on the TV, you’ll know that you should change your mattress every 8 years roughly. 8 years ago, Bob & I were 18 and lived at home with hand me down mattresses as you do, and unsurprisingly when we bought our first house last year, one of said hand me down’s came with us.

Fast forward 6 months and the lovely folks at Leesa dropped me an email to offer me one of their amazing mattresses: BRILLIANT!

(how the Leesa Mattress arrived – can you believe it’s in there?!)
