I am an avid visitor to our local John Lewis store and go every Tuesday to a parent and baby coffee morning which is fabulous and a lovely atmosphere. I pretty much always end up in the baby section browsing the clothes they have on offer or whenever I’m at home, I’m on their website searching instead.
As a massive baby clothes hoarder for future sizes (yes you read that correctly), I thought I’d share some of my favourite online bargains from their site. (I love stocking up for Freya’s next couple of sizes btw so she’s in 6-9 months now but I have all her 9-12 months almost sorted and started getting 12-18 months as well. Yes I’m crazy but I do put her old clothes in charity bags/sell them/keep neutral stuff for future babies, so I’m not buried under a mountain of baby clothes just for reference.)

I will be aiming to share these posts every time John Lewis has a sale on or some kind of offers as I really do love their clothing for kids and how a lot of it is gender neutral. I love picking out bits that I know I could keep for our next baby eventually and it would be suitable for a boy or girl as well as getting the odd pink item for Freya that I know she will look adorable in.

On New Years Eve I set off to John Lewis in York at around 3pm in the afternoon. I had scheduled myself into the Elemis counter in store for a 30 min facial and skin consultation. I had spotted the facial on offer for a reserve of £10 and also included in the deal was your makeup doing by the Hourglass ladies. As part of the deal as well the £10 reserve fee you paid could be redeemed off any purchase from either the Elemis or Hourglass counters.
The lovely Rachel at the Elemis Counter had a chat to me about my skin problems and then talked me through the different products she was using. She used a lovely Apricot toner on my skin which is great for sensitive skin as well as an exfoliator that doesn’t use bits in it however left my skin beautiful and fresh feeling. My favourite products in the range are definitely the Herbal Lavender Repair mask and the Fruit Active Rejuvenating mask. Both of these calmed the redness on my skin and stopped my spots looking so angry and red overall.
After finishing at the Elemis counter I trotted off to see the Hourglass sales lady. For the life of me I cannot remember her name which I am very sad about but she was so lovely. She spent ages chatting to me about my makeup style and talking me through the different products and showing me how to apply them. She also gave me a history of the brand and I learnt that it started in America and there are less than 20 counters across the whole of the UK that sell the makeup. Overall I loved the makeup as it felt silky on the skin and almost as thought you weren’t really wearing any. It lasted the whole of New Years Eve and I didn’t need to touch it up once.
My favourite product was the foundation as it matched my skin tone perfectly and felt super soft once on. You can go to see the counter team any time and book in for specific makeup options like skin, eyes, lips etc as well as full makeup. I would definitely go back as the products are gorgeous and I only wish I had more money to buy the lot!
After I finished I decided to use my £10 to redeem against a skin care set that was on Special Buy at the Counter.I chose the resurfacing option rather than the sensitive as the cleanser should help clear my skin up and then I will treat myself to the sensitive option to help maintain the routine.
I would definitely recommend both fo these brands and especially the 2 counters in John Lewis as the staff were lovely and friendly and explained everything so well.
Happy Thursday! The weather may be grim but here’s some grey buys to brighten your day.
I wanted to share my recent colour love of pale grey. I have spent hours looking through pinterest for home inspiration and decided to put together a collage of my favourite grey looks on the market right now. All of the items are from John Lewis or Next as I have been obsessed with them both recently after looking at furniture.
The first picture if of this beautiful Cocoon coat from Oasis. As you would expect, it’s on sale in John Lewis and Oasis themselves here. It’s currently retailing for £80 and I have been awe since I first laid eyes on it. Maybe when my house purchase has all gone through then I may have to treat myself to a house warming gift.
The next picture along is a gorgeous Grey Lace cami dress from next. It’s for sale at a price of £60 currently and I have major envy for this one. I love the cami style of dresses and it would be perfect for the summer.
The Jumper dress next to it is from John Lewis again and is from Whistles. The price is £95 and I have to say if I had the money to go and splurge I would have clicked checkout my basket already. It’s super gorgeous and makes me feel very Rebecca Bloomwood. (aka confessions of a shopaholic for those who don’t get the reference)
The amazing Snake-print Carvela shoes are from John Lewis again and have a price tag of £125. Some may say hefty, I would say necessary investment. I have a wardrobe full of shoes but if I won the lottery I’m confident I would buy as many as possible to need a walk in wardrobe just for shoes. Aren’t they beautiful?
The Yumi Collared shift dress, I found on the Next website for a price of £45. I love that it would work for a casual look as well as a dress for work or a smarter occasion. The collar is a check print and think it really flatters the pale grey of the dress.
Lastly is the stunning Whistles Oversized shirt dress again from John Lewis. Another beauty that strikes me as a Carrie Bradshaw look. The price is £140 but such a staple piece that would work time and time again.
All the prices I have quoted are current at the time of writing this post (22.1.15)
I hope you have enjoyed my little grey snippet and have created a pinterest board as well. Hope you can have a look and follow if you like what you see.
