Taking advantage of the Garden

It’s been absolutely stunning weather of late and despite being 6 months pregnant, I’ve tried to take advantage of the nice weather and get in the garden. We are super lucky to have inherited a beautiful garden when we bought the house last year and have made sure we’ve kept up with maintenance as not to ruin the aesthetic.

Now we’re into summer time and spending more time in the garden with friends round the BBQ, it’s got me thinking about how to make the garden more of our own instead of inheriting it from someone else.

We’ve planted a lot of new flowers and moved some bulbs round to fit our liking and don’t worry those ball shrubs in the picture have grown back in volume and look beautiful.

We also inherited some garden furniture when we moved in which was fantastic as it was summer when we got the keys but now I think it’s time to start looking at new furniture that suits us a bit more.

I’ve used Fishpools before when browsing and buying homeware/garden accessories so immediately I thought about them when getting some inspiration. One of my favourite garden looks is Rattan furniture and they have a fantastic range of dining sets on offer; meaning plenty to choose from.

My 2 favourite sets that they do are:

Margarita Round Rattan table with 4 chairs in grey

and

Margarita Grey Rattan Sofa Dining Set with Ice Bucket

You can get bigger dining sets than these but as much as our garden is large with a big grass/plant area, the patio is not huge and we have a BBQ so we wouldn’t want anything that took up too much room.

As well as Rattan furniture dining sets, they also sell a range of garden accessories, lighting, daybeds, sun loungers and parasols. You can literally get everything you should need for your garden in one place.

Due to baby Moore arriving in 4 months time, the urge to spend money on the garden may have to take a backseat until next summer now but this site will be the first place I go to when planning to spend.

The Final Countdown

It is now the final countdown until D.Day….. Our wedding.

For those of you who don’t follow me on social media, my big day is May 20th the same day that Pippa Middleton is getting married. (I booked my wedding before she announced the date of hers, I’ll have you know)

We got engaged a year ago (Easter Sunday) and its been a whirlwind 12 months planning the wedding and deciding what it was we actually wanted. Now it’s almost here, I am thrilled with how everything has come together and am confident it will be exactly what we imagined.

It’s difficult not to get sucked into those perfect Instagram/Pinterest weddings you see online and when you finally realise they aren’t always realistic, you start to plan what’s right for you and not others.

Some of the useful items I’ve had along the way to help me plan the big day have been my Busy B Wedding Planner and Rock My Wedding by Charlotte O’Shea.

I would definitely recommend getting a planner of some sort as it reminds you of all the little details that really do become easily forgotten as you get into the swing of planning. This planner is fantastic as it has lots of different sections and asks for budgets and breakdowns of costs to help keep you on track. We have managed to cut costs in certain areas such as invites, tables decoration and the table plan itself. I can’t wait to share some of the photos from the big day and share my secrets to cutting wedding costs.

Rock My wedding started off as a blog back in 2009 and as a blogger myself, I found myself leaning towards wedding blogs for inspiration on real life weddings. This book is a great read and has some real life weddings in it as well as colour schemes, hairstyles, makeup, dresses and lots more. I will be keeping hold of this for any of my friends/family that get married in the future as I know they will love the inspiration it provides.

In 5 weeks time I will be a married lady and can’t wait for the day to arrive. Please stick with my blog as I share a few more tips and posts as will as photos from the big day when it gets here.

Wedding Inspiration

In under 4 months I will be a married lady after spending the last year planning the big day.

I’ve shared some bits and pieces with you along the way in regards to what I’ve been up to but I thought I’d share some wedding inspiration that I’ve seen along the way.

Our colour scheme is navy and gold and one of the first places I looked for dresses was Coast. I love the outfits and dresses that Coast offer for bridesmaids and you can see some of my favourite navy styles below. My bridesmaids will be wearing long navy dresses but we did actually try some of these styles below on before settling on the ONE! I love the skirts though and I’m attending a wedding the month before my own and may actually wear one of these myself but in a different colour.

All pictures are direct from the website.

Moving on from bridesmaids attire, we take a look at favours. Now this was something we went back and forth about for a while because we really didn’t know what to choose. I came across a personalised wedding favour site which offers miniature drink options with printed personalised labels on them to commemorate your big day. You can choose from Red, White, Rose Wine, Gin, Single Malt Whisky, Vodka, Dark Rum, Deluxe Blended Whisky and Italian Prosecco.

Ultimately we decided not to go down this route but I’ve been to weddings before that have done this and it does make a nice gift to takeaway and enjoy.

I’ll be sharing some more wedding related stuff with you in the next few months including hair and makeup. If you are a bride to be, let me know in the comments whether you’ve taken any inspiration from any particular sites or magazines.
