If you read my previous post about potentially moving house, you will know that we were torn between upsizing or improving our existing home. Well we made a decision and the plan is to improve our home and add our style to it, and if the right property comes up then to see what happens.
In recent years, there has been a shift away from people moving to bigger or better houses and deciding instead to remodel their existing home. There are many benefits to doing this; one is that you don’t have the upheaval of moving, and the other is that you can remodel the house to suit however you like it. Although you might do small projects to begin with, when should you think about bigger remodelling plans?
Do You Need to Remodel?
Although there are probably areas of your home that you would like to improve, choosing to remodel is a major project and one that you only need to think about if you have to. Most people will consider doing a big project like this when they are considering expanding their home. It can be the perfect time as you only need to have one big disruption to your home. It also means that if you need help from your solicitors in Lincoln, such as arranging conveyancing or releasing equity from your current home, then you will be able to sort it out at the same time. However, you should try to think about what you might need in the future when buying your home. Even if you can only afford a smaller home initially, try to find somewhere that has room for expansion if needed later.
