What we got Freya for her birthday

Just over 2 years ago, we became parents for the first time. Yesterday we celebrated Freya’s second birthday with family and friends and had an incredible day.

I know I’m always curious about what others are buying there little ones for birthday/Christmases etc as it usually gives me inspiration so I wanted to share what we gave Freya for her birthday this year.

Freya’s main present we purchased from Hobbycraft and it is a 3-in-1 Easel and accessory set.

Freya has loved this present and has been using it loads already. It’s very light and easy to move so we have already done some painting outside in the sunshine to avoid getting paint on the carpets. The accessory kit is fab and comes with a sheet and painting overall as well as paints, brushes and other art supplies.

Next up we purchased a Princess Anna dress up costume that I managed to get from Tu during their 25% off event. She wore this not long after getting it and kept saying she wanted to keep it on. Freya’s uncle has also purchased a couple of princess dresses for her so that we can turn a corner of her room into a dress up area.

She wasn’t in pain, just trying to say Cheese!

Next up we gave Freya a Peppa Pig Bamboo dinner set and apron that was kindly gifted to us from Gift Giving All Wrapped Up. Freya has loved using this every day since and now asks for the Peppa Pig plate and cup when having meals/snacks.

Lastly we gave Freya a ride on electric Ferrari car. This was actually something I won in a competition while I was pregnant so we didn’t actually purchase it. We knew at the time we would love to give our future child something like this but wouldn’t be able to spend that kind of money. We held onto it and kept it boxed up until Freya’s birthday when we got it out for her. Needless to say she loves it and all her friends had a go in it at the party yesterday as well.

Overall we spent around £40 on her birthday presents and she’s loved them all. I don’t want to spoil her for birthday’s/Christmases and she always is lucky with gifts from others anyway. My plan for Christmas this year is to purchase 1 main present then a few smaller things and am already keeping an eye out for sales/events to get the best deals.

It’s Countdown time!

This year is not only our first Christmas in the home we bought this year, but it’s actually the first Christmas we are waking up together and spending the whole day with one another. You heard me correct, after 8.5 years together we are finally having our first Christmas together.

We are planning to buy our first tree this weekend and have lots of ideas on how to decorate it which is very exciting, as I absolutely love Christmas. I was recently contacted to work together with school locker supplier, Action Storage to decorate a wooden advent calendar in the form of a house. With it being our first Christmas, I loved the idea and was very excited to get started.

I received the calendar in the post and then hopped off to HobbyCraft to purchase what I needed to create my house.

This is what I started with:

This is the supplies I needed:

I started by painting the house with a couple of layers of paint:

And then some more paint because the wood just soaked it all up:

I did some more touches here and there (with my fiance’s help as I got bored several times of literally watching paint dry) before gluing on the gorgeous winter themed wooden toppers. I did originally plan to stamp the numbers on but they didn’t work that well so the idea was scrapped. Instead I purchased some metallic sharpies and hand wrote them on the doors and VOILA!

I know it’s not perfect in some places but actually to say I did this for a couple of hours at the weekend and then on an evening after work, I don’t think it’s been a bad attempt. It now has pride of place on our living room table and is ready to be filled with Advent chocolate.

If you’ve attempted anything like this before then feel free to leave me your links in the comments.
