Preparing for the Festive Season: A Style Guide

The upcoming festive season is one which is jam-packed with parties, events and special occasions. So, of course, you need to look and feel your best for every event you attend over the Christmas period! Luckily, with a few simple tips to follow, this is easier than ever. From finding the perfect outfit to the added extras to truly make your look sparkle, below are the essential areas you need to focus on this year.

Dress to Impress

Whether you choose a sleek and simple jumpsuit for the office party, or you wear a mini skirt for a night out with the girls, what’s most important is how it makes you feel. Regardless of whether or not you love a particular style, if you don’t feel confident and comfortable in it, don’t wear it! There’s nothing more disheartening than feeling self-conscious throughout a party and wanting to hide away in a corner. To have you feeling and looking incredible, you can find beautiful plus size outfits or the perfect pair of relaxed jeans and boots from the comfort of your living room.

With that in mind, the festive season is a time for glitz and glamour, so don’t shy away from sequins and glitter! However, if this will make you feel like a Strictly Come Dancing contestant, why not opt for velvet instead? Velvet dresses are a luxurious addition to any wardrobe. Choose a rich, darker tone, such as navy or burgundy to wow everyone at the Christmas party.

Looking after my feet in pregnancy

I’m edging ever closer to my third trimester and pregnancy is absolutely flying by now. The first 20 weeks flew because we were planning the wedding and once the wedding had passed, it seemed that we had several slow weeks where I was getting bigger but it still felt like ages away until baby is with us. Needless to say it seems to be speeding up again and we are looking forward to getting the nursery decorated and the travel system on order.

The worst bit of late has been the unbearable heat that the UK had for a week or two. I know I shouldn’t complain about nice weather but when you’re too big to fit your normal clothes, heat is your nemesis. One thing I have taken to is wearing sandals a lot lately, mainly because they’re easy to get on and off and because they don’t squish my feet. The downside to wearing sandals a lot is that they don’t really offer you a lot of support all the time and your poor soles get sore. Well now it’s time to say goodbye to that problem and actually look after my tootsies.

When Vionic offered me the chance to review a pair of their sandals, I won’t lie; there was a pretty big smile on my face. I’ve always wanted a pair of sandals that look nice but are also good for the feet and these Nala T-Strap sandals are just that.

The perfect Winter footwear

This isn’t an outdoor footwear post talking about the perfect boot I’m afraid. That’s right, I’m talking about super comfy, cosy slippers for pottering around the house.

Now I’m getting older, I remember my mum always telling me to wear slippers round the house to stop complaining about cold feet. Finally I’ve realised her advice was good and that’s when Lazy Dogz came into my life.

Lazy Dogz are slipper specialists who have been in business since 2001. They pride themselves on producing luxurious footwear that looks and feels amazing.

I was sent this beautiful pair of Sandy Moccasin slippers, which fit like a glove and are dreamy in how they feel when you wear them.

On closer inspection it’s clear to see they think of the detail as the stitching was exact, the lovely fluffy lining inside is just the right amount of warmth and the pretty gold bow adds that extra something to the top.

They are also really practical on the sole as they have rubber parts giving you good grip on a slippy surface like tiles/laminate which is ideal in our house.

I have owned many a pair of slippers over the years but this may be my comfiest pair yet! They retail at £35 (*which was correct at the time of writing this*) and for every pair of Lazy Dogz slippers sold before Christmas Eve 2016, they will donate £1 to the Manchester Dogs Home. (Another reason I absolutely love this company)

So if you are looking for a new pair of slippers or you don’t get quite the right pair for Christmas, then check this fab company out.
