Switching up my breakfast

Lately I’ve been trying to get a bit healthier with my diet and lifestyle and it made sense to start with the first meal of the day; Breakfast.

I’ve always gone for the easy option and bungled a bit of bread in the toaster then ran out the door for work once eaten or a bowl of cereal that’s full of sugar. Having hated muesli and granola as a kid, I never took the plunge in trying them again until recently.

After trying granola and realising I absolutely love it, I decided to venture into the world of Muesli and see what it had to offer. My brand of choice for my first dabble came in the form of Moma. I’ve tried some of these products before and absolutely love their porridge range, so I thought I’ give their DIY Bircher Muesli a go.

Bircher Muesli for those of you that are wondering; is an oat mix with fruits and seeds. Moma use gluten-free oats in their products which is a huge plus for me as too much makes my stomach all funny. This Bircher Muesli is raspberry and coconut and contains raisins, apple, sunflower seeds, coconut flakes, desiccated coconut, raspberries and blackcurrant as well as their usual gluten-free oats.

Now the reason it’s called DIY Bircher Muesli is because it’s great for those of us that don’t have a lot of time in our morning routines. Here’s 3 ways the folks at Moma recommend trying this product:

  1. Just add milk or a dairy free alternative (1 minute to make)
  2. Add to a bowl and mix with either yoghurt or apple juice and leave it to soak (5 minutes to make)
  3. As above but if you have more time you could grate some apple of add more chopped up fruits (10 minutes to make)

I’ve only tried mine with almond milk so far but would give it 10/10 for taste and texture. Next on my list to try it to pop some apple juice in and leave them to soak and see what they can do.

10 Tips That Can Help You Stick To Your Diet In 2017

Someone recently asked me for 10 tips that can help them stick to their diet. I made the following list, but I didn’t order them in the most important. This is because everyone is different. With that said, here are 10 tips for sticking to your diet.

1. Don’t try change your eating habits until you learn skills such as how to get used to eating healthier and how to motivate yourself daily. You’ll also want to know how to withstand cravings and how to get back on track when you make a mistake. Once you do those things, then change your eating habits.

2. Motivate yourself daily by doing things such as creating a list of why you want to lose weight. Look over that list regularly. Make sure to look at it when you feel the most vulnerable, too.

3. Eat slowly and eat while sitting down. Do this even if you don’t feel like it. If you eat fast and mindlessly, then you’ll have no problems falling off your diet plan or binge eating.

Getting My Exante on…

It’s now just about 7 months until our wedding! (Screams at the fact that I am struggling with wedding planning so much right now) 

One of the biggest things on my list has been trying to feel good about myself; mind & body. That means trying to get a better nights sleep and not get stressed too much as well as trialling some new skincare out to try to clear my skin. Recently I’ve been testing out some health & protein products from Exante Diet to try to build up the protein in my diet and ultimately tone up for the wedding day.

Yes I used my products slightly different to most in that I’m not trying to lose a huge amount of weight and would rather eat more protein to tone up, but that just proves how versatile the programmes can be.

Now it’s time to share some much-needed photos of the products and my thoughts about them, so here goes.

The muesli is up first and this was one of my favourite products of everything I tried. It was really yummy and filled me up for a morning of errands and jobs in the house which is fab.

Then came the porridge which was yum again and I even used the chocolate syrup on top which added a little extra something to it.

Then came the protein shakes; chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. Surprisingly my favourite one was the strawberry which is usually the one I hate. It was really nice and didn’t taste protein like at all. I wasn’t a huge fan of chocolate or vanilla on this occasion but I would definitely get the strawberry again in future.

Every single bar was yum and I was really taken back by how much they filled me up and left me wanting to snack on junk a lot less. Normally I’m a massive snacker on crisps and biscuits but these curbed my appetite for rubbish and left me fuller for a lot longer. If I had to choose my top 3 it’s the Peanut Butter bar, the chocolate protein wafer and the chocolate caramel bar. Everything tasted great though and I would recommend them to anyone.

Overall I have been really impressed with the Exante diet plan and having had quite a negative view of diet plans in the past, I think my mind has been swayed. This plan definitely shows flexibility and how it can be used for weight gain as well as weight loss. If you visit the website you will find they have great offers on all the time meaning you can grab quite the bargain if you want to try it out without a huge expense straight away.
