Better late than never, I’m finally getting round to writing up the August Empties post now that we are 2 weeks into the month. Shameful beauty blogger eh?!
Anyway as I’m writing this, it’s a sunny but freezing day and I’m officially 37 weeks pregnant. I love writing my empties post’s as it’s always fun to see how much I’ve managed to clear out that month but also to share my thoughts on different products I’ve used. In August I used up an outstanding 8 products ranging from skincare to body care and it’s now time to share my thoughts.
It’s no secret that I love beauty and skincare, and I’m always on the lookout to try new products especially during the summer months. If you’re like me, your skin goes all different kinds of crazy during the hotter months and I try to limit the amount of products I use when on holidays.
When we jetted off to Lanzarote this year, I was determined to use minimal products on my skin and try to give it a bit of detox for a change. I chose 5 of my favourite products to share with you and inspire you to maybe try some new things out yourself.
From the left is 2 beauties from Dermalogica: The Solar Defense Booster SPF 30 and the Solar Shield SPF15. These two are a godsend on holidays and in hot weather in general. We used the Solar Shield on our nose and lips during prime heat of the day and also incorporated the Defense Booster into moisturiser and used it mostly around the face and hairline. These are not replacement products for sun care so we merely used them on top of our normal products, however they smell great and don’t leave you feeling sticky or coated which is great. We will definitely be buying them again in future.
Next up is the SBC Aloe Vera Gel which is my favourite type of aftersun product. The lovely folks at SBC sent me this last year to test out with another of their products after posting a review about 2 of their other gel products a friend gave me. I love this range and find the gel products are the best on the market. The Aloe Gel is great for cooling in the fridge and then slathering on after being in the sun/heat. Just like the Dermalogica products, I will definitely buy this again.
When it came to moisturiser, there was only one choice this summer, in the form of Caudalie moisturising sorbet. This beautiful moisturiser is exactly like a sorbet and just melts away into the skin. It’s not thick or too heavy which is perfect for summer and smells lovely and floral. It also acts as a great primer before putting any concealer or foundation on.
Last but by no means least is Girl Meets Pearl from Benefit. I know, I know, I’m stupidly late for the Benefit train but I honestly never bothered with the brand before. I was lucky enough to win a little set and this was in it so I gave it a go. I love highlighter but on holiday I’d rather not cake myself in powder of any fashion. This gorgeous pearl glow is great for dabbing onto cheekbones and letting it shine away. I will most definitely purchase a full size version in the future.
Hope you enjoyed reading, let me know in the comments if there’s any other summer products you wear by and I should check out.
Where on Earth is December going?! I am ashamed to say that I bring you today a post that deserved to be written a month ago. Last month; the day before flying to New Zealand, I had the pleasure of going to another amazing Blogger event at The Body Shop in York. At the time, I was over the moon to be invited to the event but did have a mini heart attack at the knowledge that my post wouldn’t go live for over a month due to my holiday. I hate leaving things so late especially when these kind of posts should be written straight away.
The Event focused around the Body Shop’s Christmas range including the gorgeous Frosted Plum, Glazed Apple and Frosted Cranberry. I was a complete novice to the Body Shop whatsoever up to 2015 so I have never come across the Christmas range before however the lovely staff told us how Glazed Apple was one of the 2014’s most popular products. We got to smell and test some of the gorgeous products including a sugar scrub, body butter and oil’s. One of my favourite products was the bath fizzers as they are gorgeous little cubes of goodness.
I listened intently to everything the amazing staff members were telling me as I am always curious to know about new products or offers they have on. We were treated to makeup up discussions and even a glittery eyeliner makeover which was fab.
I love a good smell, and when I say that I mean, I test every scent in the shop until I walk out smelling like the Perfume shop. What a treat for my lovely boyfriend who picked me up and I reeked of all sorts of scents and smells. I can’t say I tried one I didn’t like and when I win the lottery, I intend to treat myself to all of them.
Just like last time I decided to treat myself to some of the fab products; a glazed apple lip balm, a concealer in fair and the warming mineral mask. I love face masks and lip balms, I have soooo many of them it’s a little bit crazy but I love to try new ones all the time and just couldn’t resist. I have been looking for a concealer for a while and this one was the perfect skin tone so it was obviously meant to be.
I would definitely recommend the Body Shop for any last-minute Christmas presents, secret Santa gifts or even stocking fillers as they have a brilliant range to cater for everyone.
