The Geek-ish Valentine Gift Guide under £30

I will confess to being a massive geek/nerd whatever the term may be. I love anything to do with Harry Potter, Marvel, Star Wars and Game of Thrones. The list could go on and on but it would be a longer post than necessary and you lovely lot would just get bored in the end.

I have been in love with the Truffle Shuffle website for a long time and would love to snap up most of the items on there. I thought I would put together a geeky little gift guide for anyone whos partner/gf/bf/wife/hubby would love something different and lets face it, a bit nerdish!

So the first item is a Marvel Comics Wolverine Iphone 5 case. On the site for a lovely price of £8.99 so a fantastic affordable item to give as a gift for any X-Men fans.

The next item along is Playstation Controller Cufflinks, currently retailing for £12.99. Great for any man who is a fan of the good old games console.

Next along is one of my favourites which happens to be a Unisex Mr Bean Costume T-Shirt on the site for £24.99. As the name says, it’s a unisex item that comes in a number of sizes but I will admit to being a huge fan of Mr Bean so it’s on my wishlist.

I have also selected a retro Wonder Woman satin wash bag which would make a very practical items whether its for home use or travelling. It’s also a mere £8.99 which makes it another affordable items on the nerdy wishlist.

Underneath the wash bag is another item that I am lusting after which happens to be a Silver Plated Dobby the House Elf necklace. For those of you living in a cave (yes that means you Batman!), Dobby is from Harry Potter and this necklace is a tiny price of £6.99 – WOW!

Lastly the big image is a cool one for any marvel fan. It’s a Marvel Comics 3D Thor Hammer Wall Light. ERRR how amazing is this light. When Bob and I finally get a house, this is top of the stuff I want (obviously after a fridge, bed etc) It’s on the website for £29.99 which I think would be money well spent.

All the items on my list are under £30.00 and good value for money. All the prices I have quoted are correct as of 06/02/2015. Have you found anything that you could recommend to me as a self-confessed geek?? Have a look at my Pinterest board HERE for more inspiration.

Thanks

#Frugal February

frugalfeb

I have been seeing a lot of twitter statuses including the #frugalfeb tag. I was really intrigued to know what was going on and whether I thought I could get involved logically. I’m not a huge spender anyway so the idea of being frugal is not a new concept to me anyway as I’m saving up for a house.

I stumbled upon a lovely blog post over at My Pale Skin which has really inspired me to share some frugal living tips of my own for this month (I know we are over a week in to the month now but hey ho!)

  • Take cash out when you go for a meal/drinks etc and set that as your budget so you don’t just keep paying by debit card.
  • Swap your usual makeup buys for a cheaper brand. I am going to be doing a makeup revolution haul in the next week as I have recently fallen in love with the brand and its so much cheaper than some others.
  • Use up all your products at home before running out to buy more. I have so much shampoo, perfume, body lotion etc that I aim to use up then blog about empties and whether or not I liked them or not.
  • Keep a jar of spare change. I throw 1p’s, 2p’s and 5p’s in mine and just collect them up.
  • Try and have no spend days where you don’t just spend for the sake of it whether its a coffee to go or buying your lunch. I take lunch to work with me and also invested in a travel mug for my tea/coffee to save money.
  • Sell old clothes etc on Depop/Ebay/Vinted. I am going to be listing a few items this month in order to make a bit extra money
  • Try not to waste any food in the fridge, use up as much as you can before you think about throwing half of it out and be aware of expiry dates on things.

These are just a few of the practices I use in my life and I am immensely proud of the fact that we are now getting ready to buy our first home at the age of 24. I will doing these and then some when we eventually find a home and get moved in.

What are you frugal living tips?

Thanks

Makeup revolution: Go to the City Palette

Where to start with Makeup Revolution. A new affordable brand that can be found in the aisles of Superdrug. I have spotted it on several occasions trying to entice me to buy, but I will openly admit to not being afflicted with an urge to buy makeup all the time. This has changed recently and I have branched out of my comfort zone more with new brands and makeup revolution has been lucky enough to now feature in my makeup drawer.

A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to win a 6month Blogaversary competition from the lovely Brenda Busy Bee over here! The prize was a bundle of palettes from Makeup Revolution and a Benefit set. I have been super busy the last couple of weeks but have finally got round to posting a review of the first of four palette’s The “Go to the City” palette.

The Palette Features 2 blushers, a highlighter and 6 eyeshadows. The eyeshadow colours are gorgeous and all with a metallic hue. The highlighter is a lovely soft pink champagne colour and looks lovely on over the blusher. I was a little unsure of the blusher shades as in the palette they look rather bright but with a careful application and slight mix with loose powder they can look lovely and natural.

The palette is on the Makeup revolution website for a bargain price of £3.99 and for amazing quality as well, I would say it’s well worth the investment. I will be posting about the 3 other palettes in the next week so keep your eyes peeled folks.

Can anyone recommend any other makeup bargains to me that I can check out?

Thanks
