My First Beauty Product Testing review *

A couple of weeks ago, I received a surprise email from to tell me they were sending me a product out to try. I remembered signing my email up a few weeks before and then completely forgetting I had done so! They wanted me to do some Beauty Product Testing for them and then to share my findings with you lovely lot.

I received 2 very different products to try out which I was very surprised about as I really didn’t know what to expect after getting that email. First up I received a Montagne Jeunesse Passion peel-off mask, which I was over the moon about as I absolutely love skin care and this range and was looking forward to trying this one out. Secondly I received a Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm which I have never tried before and was so excited about.

I have been loving using this super nourishing lip balm as it’s been helping me keep my lips lovely and soft in this very up and down typical British weather. It’s a great size to just pop in your handbag and keep close by for times when you just need it. It doesn’t have a strong smell which is fab as that sometimes put me off lip gloss or balms and I end up chucking them away if I don’t get on with them. It’s also not tacky and doesn’t get half your hair stuck to it with a slight change of wind. (girl problems)

The Montagne jeunesse face mask smells amazing, and full of fruit. You slather it on your face, (I tend to put on my t-zone, cheeks and chin – where my skin is worse) and then wait for it to dry before peeling it off. It’s very difficult when trying to let it dry to do anything else, like watch TV or drink as it just makes your face crease up! I will admit to being a bit crazy and loving the peeling off part, it’s very Therapeutic haha. I have been using their masks for years and would definitely buy this one for myself in future.

As you can see from the dreadful photo on the left, my skin has been flaring up a lot lately and a lovely face mask was nice to soothe it and help it heal and get better. Overall I was really impressed by both products and have enjoyed using them. I would definitely recommend both brands and for letting me try these beauties out and share them will you all.

Have you tried any of these brands or worked with Product testing UK before?

Hope you enjoyed this post.

What I learnt from Kiehl’s

Whilst flicking through twitter one night a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon a tweet asking for York-based beauty bloggers to get in touch. I immediately was intrigued and fired off an enquiry email to the lovely Manager of Kiehl’s York store, Hannah. She was looking to meet some York bloggers who she could talk to about Kiehl’s and teach them about their beautiful ranges and help spread the word about the brand.

Bearing in mind, I absolutely go wild over skin care and love to feature new brands or ranges for my readers to learn more about and see if I can share any amazing products or companies with the world. I booked in to go and meet Hannah for last Wednesday to find out more about Kiehl’s and also to have a mini facial and get to try out some of the amazing products.

I was greeted by Laura who had worked at the York Store since it opened 2-3 years ago, shortly followed by meeting Hannah who managed the store. They looked awesome in their white lab coats with the whole store feeling like a mixture of a laboratory meets classroom. Hannah started by talking to me about Kiehl’s the brand and then finding out more about my skin type what kind of products I used at present.

Then she got down to the dreaded part of cleansing my face and stripping it naked. Yes folks, that meant my makeup being washed away and my spotty face being on show. I am hugely self-conscious of my skin and it can get me down when its bad, which this particular day – IT WAS! She talked me through the products that I should be using to keep my skin hydrated and in better condition.

After going through all the facial, my skin felt refreshed and smooth for the first time in a while. Hannah then gave me lots of travel sized versions of the products she used on my face to go away and continue with the routine for the next few weeks to see if it makes a difference.

I am a week into the routine and my skin looks a lot better and there is less redness and I am even managing to use a bit less makeup every day which is my ultimate goal. I would love to feel confident about going out to work etc without much foundation on and maybe just a bit of BB cream to make it look smooth and I will keep you updated after 2 more weeks to let you know my overall review of the routine and Kiehl’s.

Here is 5 things I learnt about Kiehls’ & Skincare:

1. Kiehl’s is owned by L’oreal, which I didn’t know about.
2. 24 is never to young to start applying that eye cream!
3. Toner can be my friend even though it petrified me before going to Kiehl’s.
4. Dark spot corrector is an ingenious product and is helping me clear pigmentation.
5. My skin gets shiny because it’s actually dehydrated – who knew!?

I hope you liked LOVED this post.

Have you ever tried Kiehl’s before?

Best Foot Forward

I have made no secret to any person who has ever met me or read my blog, that I have a weak spot for shoes. I have a very overflowing wardrobe full of the babies and can’t bear to part with any of them. Seriously though, its become a bit of an addiction and I literally have to shove my wardrobe door closed every day. It also takes me a good rummage to find matching shoes which is a nightmare at any time because I normally leave it last-minute to find said matching shoes.

I wanted to share with you, some of very favourites, all of which just happen to be high heels (because I have lots of them) and all from New Look after falling in love with their very comfortable shoes at a young age. Every pair I wear from New Look normally lasts me a good amount of time and always wear in to be super comfy as well. So here are my favourites….

Let’s state the obvious, they are all very monochrome, either black, white or grey. I do own lots of other shoes with bits of colour and nudes etc but I absolutely love all 5 of these pairs. They are perfect for every season making the transitions from Spring to Winter because of their shades. The black pair in the middle are amazing and the thick buckle makes the super sturdy. The grey pair look fab with skinny blue jeans and a bright top for a Spring/Summer event. The bottom pair took a bit of wearing in as the strap at the toes was a bit tight at first but now they are lovely. I have yet to wear the caged stiletto’s but they are massively on trend right now and can’t wait to wear them out. I wore the top grey and black pair with some peg leg trousers and a cami for a nice meal and they were surprisingly comfy as well which I didn’t expect them to be at the toes.

I have got plenty more shoes in my wardrobe and will share some of my favourite flats etc in the next few months so you can see my lovely collection.

Are any of you fans of New Look’s amazing shoe range???

Hope you like my favourite heels?
