National Smile Month*

If you aren’t already aware, week commencing 18th May 2015 is the start of National Smile Month. This post is coming to you just a couple of days after the start of this lovely month of toothy grins and pearly whites. I have shared with you all before that I like to take care of my teeth and went through a couple of painful years of wearing train track braces in order to sort my teeth out.

I was contacted to work with The Centre for Advanced Dentistry whom I have worked with before talking about whiter smiles and this can be found HERE! There are some big brands who are working with the British Dental Health Foundation to bring us more information during National Smile Month including Oral-B, Wrigley, Philips Sonicare and Boots.

The aim of National Smile Month is to promote better Oral healthcare so we have better teeth and let’s face it, the outcome would be fewer trips to the dentist and less money spent on fixing teeth problems. One thing I always get told every time I go to the dentist is to floss more. I will admit to living up to this for a couple of months and then getting complacent again and forgetting. One thing I am learning from National Smile Month is to start flossing again in order to keep my teeth and gums in healthy condition.

It’s super important to look after your teeth. I won’t lie I meet people and look at their teeth a lot and can’t help but think sometimes they would look nicer if their teeth were in better condition. It’s awful that I do that, but I would hate if someone looked at me and thought eurgh, her teeth are disgusting! It sounds extremely vain but after having braces for years, I realise how important my teeth are to me.

The Centre for Advanced Dentistry offers a number os different treatments like Orthodontics, Whitening, Dentures and even replacement teeth if you were missing one for example. If you don’t already look after your teeth then check out their website or the National Smile Month website to find out more about keeping you teeth and gums in tip-top condition.

I hope you liked this post and it has urged you to take better care of your teeth if you don’t already.

Magnitone 7 Day Challenge*

At the end of April/early May I took part in a twitter chat called #BHTWITTERPARTY being ran by the lovely people at Bloggers Love Hub. I attended one of these before and it was a fab way to talk to other bloggers and get to know about some brands. On this occasion it was Magnitone that were a front-runner of the chat and we were given the opportunity to fill in a form to be selected to try out one of their fab Magnitone Lucid Brushes.

As you know, my skin and I do not have a great relationship and I am always looking out for new ways to create harmony. I quickly filled out my form and a few days later I got an email telling me I had been successful in being selected to review a brush!!!! I was so excited as I waited for the post to get my new cleansing brush and try it out for myself. One saturday after work I drove to the post office and collected my brush and rushed home to start trying out the Magnitone Lucid for myself.

I decided to take a photo every other day to show my progress so you can see myself and I won’t lie…. it petrified me that you will all see my ugly mug without makeup but here goes….

Day 1)

Day 3)

Day 5)

Day 7) with some concealer on to show how much better the coverage looks now

You may look at the pictures and think it doesn’t look much different or any better but I have just crossed day 7 yesterday and my skin feels a lot better. It did take some getting used to every day, to get up and use the cleansing brush on a morning with my Kiehls cleansing wash was a big change to my routine. That’s because I never had much of a routine before a couple of weeks ago. My skin still has spots, and looks a bit red in areas but it has improved a lot. I love this Magnitone brush and definitely am feeling the #lucidlove now that it has changed my skin care routine.

The brush itself has 2 settings; Deep Clean & sensitive. For someone like myself the┬ásensitive mode is recommended at first for 1 minute of cleansing per day. The brush is 100% waterproof which is fab because you don’t have to worry about getting water on any of the brush itself. It comes with a wireless travel charger which lasts 2 weeks! How amazing is that?! There is also a 20 second timer on the settings which prompts you to change which part of the face you are concentrating on each time. You cannot go wrong with this cleansing brush at all!

It has definitely taken some courage for me to share these pictures with you as my skin is literally a nightmare for me and is the thing that knocks my confidence the most. I would love nothing more than leaving with just a bit of BB cream on in a morning and having a nice clear complexion. Fingers crossed as I continue to use this brush and my Kiehls cleansing products, I see a big difference as I never expected miracles in a week.

I would definitely recommend this brush and as a thank you to you all for hopefully not judging my dreadful makeup free selfies too badly, I have a 20% discount code that you can use to buy one of these bad boys for yourself.

If you are looking to change your skin care then I thoroughly recommend getting one of these brushes and trying out the 7 day better skin challenge for yourself.

Hope you got a lot from reading my review.

My First Beauty Product Testing review *

A couple of weeks ago, I received a surprise email from to tell me they were sending me a product out to try. I remembered signing my email up a few weeks before and then completely forgetting I had done so! They wanted me to do some Beauty Product Testing for them and then to share my findings with you lovely lot.

I received 2 very different products to try out which I was very surprised about as I really didn’t know what to expect after getting that email. First up I received a Montagne Jeunesse Passion peel-off mask, which I was over the moon about as I absolutely love skin care and this range and was looking forward to trying this one out. Secondly I received a Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm which I have never tried before and was so excited about.

I have been loving using this super nourishing lip balm as it’s been helping me keep my lips lovely and soft in this very up and down typical British weather. It’s a great size to just pop in your handbag and keep close by for times when you just need it. It doesn’t have a strong smell which is fab as that sometimes put me off lip gloss or balms and I end up chucking them away if I don’t get on with them. It’s also not tacky and doesn’t get half your hair stuck to it with a slight change of wind. (girl problems)

The Montagne jeunesse face mask smells amazing, and full of fruit. You slather it on your face, (I tend to put on my t-zone, cheeks and chin – where my skin is worse) and then wait for it to dry before peeling it off. It’s very difficult when trying to let it dry to do anything else, like watch TV or drink as it just makes your face crease up! I will admit to being a bit crazy and loving the peeling off part, it’s very Therapeutic haha. I have been using their masks for years and would definitely buy this one for myself in future.

As you can see from the dreadful photo on the left, my skin has been flaring up a lot lately and a lovely face mask was nice to soothe it and help it heal and get better. Overall I was really impressed by both products and have enjoyed using them. I would definitely recommend both brands and for letting me try these beauties out and share them will you all.

Have you tried any of these brands or worked with Product testing UK before?

Hope you enjoyed this post.
