You may have seen on my Instagram yesterday that Bob, Freya and I were invited over to William’s Den in East Yorkshire for a fun-filled day out. We kindly accepted the invitation to go despite Freya being a little on the young side at the moment as we knew it could potentially be a destination for our days out in the future and wanted to find out more.
The idea for William’s Den started 5 years ago when Tor & Christian Carver realised the opportunity to create a space for children to play both indoors and outdoors, was there and something they could bring to life.
We decided to go early for not long after the doors opened at 9:30am to make the most of it being quiet and let Freya have a play without getting trampled on when it got busier.
The Den itself is a barn with a huge indoor play space made out of responsibly sourced wood. It includes a Tree House, a Rain Maker, a stream and waterfall as well as an Eagles Nest. There were already quite a few families there when we arrived and the children running around seemed to be having a fantastic time exploring the indoor space. The flooring is either a soft spongey artificial grass feel or sand making it much safer despite Freya not liking the feel of the artificial flooring.
Moving onto the outside it is a wide open space for children to explore with swings, sand pits, tunnels, zip lines and areas to build dens for yourself. There are plenty of benches dotted around for the adults as well as tepee sheltered picnic tables to sit and enjoy a drink and some food.
She might not look happy but she did enjoy the swing I promise!
The den is a truly fabulous place and worth the money for a great day for all the family. It is located in North Cave, East Riding of Yorkshire and from our home in Stamford Bridge; took around 35 mins travel time. If you’re thinking about going then I’ve popped the opening times and prices below to help you plan your visit. We will definitely look at going back with Freya next summer as she approaches her 2nd birthday as we know she would love it here once she’s walking and running around. We’ve even discussed having her next birthday party here as we know her friends would love it too.
