The Morning After Memoirs: Book review

A few weeks ago, the lovely Laura over at Ago Publishing contacted me and asked if I wanted to review a recently published book called The Morning After Memoirs. I love reading and was very excited when she sent me a copy that could be downloaded to my Kindle and I could read it on my daily commute to work.

The story follows the life of 29-year-old Jess who wakes up after a New Years Eve night out, confused and has to piece together the night. Needless to say it has changed her life somewhat and she spends the next year of her life trying to get it together and be a new Jess. It’s a brilliantly funny story which definitely made me laugh out loud on the train to work. The people around me must have thought me crazy as I sniggered away at some of the things Jess got up to.

Jess is on a quest for love, a new place to live, a job she enjoys and low-calorie alternatives to everything she loves. I don’t want to spoil the book for anyone because it really is a great read. I bet there a lots of ladies out there who could relate to Jess’ character as she is on the cusp of turning 30 and has to move back home with her mum and dad who are delightfully kooky characters. She also spends a rather long period after the aforementioned new years eve night out having hairy legs and eating lots of junk food while she wallows.

If you are looking for something new to read then I definitely recommend The Morning After Memoirs as you will laugh along the way with Jess as she tries to turn her year around.
