March is National Bed Month so I thought it reasonably apt to talk about sleep and particularly sleep when you become a parent for the first time and have no idea what to expect.
Whilst I was pregnant I was constantly told to enjoy sleep while I could as once the baby was here, it would all change. Talk about Negative Nancy’s eh? I’ll be frank and tell you that the first 10 weeks were difficult especially when you would wake up to feed 3-4 times a night but gradually it got better and Freya decided to sleep through the night.
Since then I’ve tried numerous lotions and potions to try to help me sleep sounder and make sure I get a better night’s rest to tackle the day ahead with a baby. For the last few weeks I’ve been testing out Feather & Down luxury Pillow Spray and seeing if it really does help you sleep better.

I received a fantastic box of goodies to put to the test that included the pillow spray, melting shower cream and an all-purpose sleep balm. Both Bob and I started testing the products out straight away to see if it did indeed help us achieve a restful nights sleep.
The sleep spray has an infusion of lavender and chamomile essential oils and a few sprays on the pillow before bed is all you need. It has a really subtle smell which was nice and relaxing when closing your eyes to go to sleep. It retails for £7 making it a bargain if you want to try something new.
I’ve been using the all-purpose sleep balm by massaging into pulse points on my wrists, temple and back of my neck before bed and love the blend of Vitamin E and essential oils. Again this retails for £7 and is a lovely night-time aid for those looking for a good nights rest.
Lastly I’ve been using the melting shower cream whenever I am showering and absolutely love this product. It’s £6 making it the cheapest of the three and smells amazing. What I love most is that the scent lingers after you’ve showered for several hours and is super relaxing. This is perfect for having a shower before bed as it would rub off on your PJ’s or bedding.
My final verdict on these products is that they are very lovely and out of the three, I would buy the shower cream again as I felt it was excellent value for money. My own personal preference is for a slightly stronger scent so if the sleep spray was a tad stronger, I would 100% be on-board but as I say, that’s just my opinion. When it comes to sleep, I definitely felt as though I slept better during the night but I wouldn’t say it had an effect on my ability to drift off in the first place. I think the products are excellent value for money and if you’re looking to get a better night’s rest then these are definitely worth a try.
