Paige Toon: I Knew You Were Trouble

Happy Wednesday people and welcome to my first ever book review on the blog. I was lucky enough to be sent I Knew You Were Trouble by Paige Toon to enjoy and share my thoughts.

When I started reading this book, I was relieved that the story is easy to get into. I’ve read some books in the past where they have been wonderful stories but the first chapter or two was difficult to get into. This book is probably aimed at your teen age group however I am not ashamed to admit that at the age of 25, I absolutely loved it. The story grabbed me straight away and I read the whole book in 2 days! Twitter was on a ban for those 2 days because I was so engrossed in the book.

The story revolves around Jessie Jefferson who is a normal 15-year-old girl whose mum sadly passes away. She confronts her stepfather to find out the name of her real dad and ends up finding out he’s a rock star living in America. Think a modern-day Princess Diaries but without all the transformation stuff and more about a typical 15-year-old trying to deal with life.

I like that the book focused on her growing up and dealing with issues and not just being handed the glitz of having a rock star dad. Yes she has to deal with certain things that most teenagers do not, but she has boy problems, and best friend fights so it’s completely relatable.

I really hope there will be a sequel to this book as I really did enjoy it and didn’t want the book to end. I really want to know what will happen to Jessie next and will be keeping my eyes peeled for another book in the future.

I hope you likes my review and I have tried not to give too much away about the story if you fancy reading it yourself.
