My Favourite Ways To Relax

I don’t think anybody realises just how important relaxing actually is. You might think of it as wasting time or doing nothing, but you’re actually taking important time to yourself to recuperate, re-energise, and de-stress. There are so many benefits of relaxing, you should take some time to yourself to do it every day. Here are some of my favourite ways to relax to inspire you:

Meditate/Yoga

Some people laugh at meditation or Yoga, but it can actually be so beneficial when you practice it every day. Every day for 10-20 minutes is all you need to start reaping the benefits in your life. Not only will you feel more relaxed and calm in general, you should feel more alert. You’ll be able to overcome problems better, and you’ll feel more able to live in the present moment. There are apps, books, and all kinds of other resources to help you. Try it for a minimum of 10 days and you should notice a big difference!

Read a Book

Reading is something people need to do more of. It doesn’t matter whether you like to read self-help books, or whether you prefer to get lost in a story. Reading a book is the perfect way to relax and take some time to yourself. Find a comfortable space, make yourself a drink, and get reading! Sometimes I lose track of time this way and have managed to read a book in 2 days before. That’s when you know you’re having a good time!

Indulge in Hobbies

Everybody has their own unique hobbies that they like to practice, so make sure you take time to do yours. This might be writing a journal, blogging, or drawing. Anything! If you can get lost in it and you enjoy doing it, it should help you to relax. Don’t find time for it; make time for it! What is life if we’re not doing the things we love?

Take a Dip

What can be better than taking a dip when you’re feeling stressed? You can do this in a nice hot bath, or you can use a lazy spa depending on your preference. This is a great time for you to relax, reflect, and get out feeling like a new person. I still live at home and have tried to suggest a Jacuzzi before, the answer was NO! haha it may be a must for when I buy my own place.

Listen to Music

Music has a powerful effect on the human brain. Our subconscious absorbs everything we hear, even if we don’t know it. Listening to music full of swearing and nasty lyrics might be enjoyable for a while, but it might not be putting you in the best of moods. Try listening to more relaxing tunes and see how you feel afterwards. Make a playlist and have it on in the background while you work or get other chores done. I love having Spotify on and listening to my favourite songs.

Get Some Exercise

Exercise is one of the very best methods for relaxing. You’ll get an instant hit of endorphins while you’re doing your workout, which helps you to relax straight away and feel happier. Not only that, the longer you keep it up, the better you’ll feel in general. Your confidence will increase, you’ll become healthier, and you’ll live longer. It really is a no brainer when it comes to exercise!

Catch Up With Friends

Spending time with your loved ones shouldn’t be taken for granted. You might think they’re not going anywhere, but life is full of surprises. You could be here one minute and then gone the next. Make sure you appreciate them while they’re here and make the most of spending time with them. Even if you visit for a short coffee and a chat, it’s better than nothing. You may live to regret it if you don’t make more of an effort, and it’ll help take your mind off other areas of your life! It’s always good to have an ear to chew (metaphorically speaking).

Treat Yourself

It’s called retail therapy for a reason! Why not treat yourself? Don’t get me wrong, you shouldn’t get into the habit of spending lots of money when you feel low. That’s how debt is created. However, sometimes it can be nice to treat yourself. You could even treat yourself to a relaxing massage or facial; something that will leave you feeling fantastic afterwards.

I hope you like my favourite ways to relax and they help you to get some head space. Remember, worrying is a wasted emotion, and you can choose the way you feel. Just feel happy for no reason and you’ll love the results!
