I have been on a roll with book reviews lately, mostly down to my 2o-minute commute each way to and from work on a daily basis. This weeks offering is Magnus Chase & the Sword of Summer.
I didn’t really know what to expect from this book other than the blue eyes of a wolf on the front of the book. Needless to say I expected it to feature somewhere in the book and it certainly did. The book follows 16-year-old Magnus Chase who is homeless after losing his mother and never knowing his father.
Magnus soon finds out his life is anything but ordinary and finds himself in the world of the Gods. Think Thor, Odin etc. His world is literally turned inside out as he finds out about his father, the truth behind his mother’s death and what his future holds for him.
He befriends a dwarf and an elf along the way who definitely make the story even more fantastic. Not only do you find out about Magnus’ life, you hear the stories of Blitz the dwarf and Hearth the Elf. He also make an unlikely friend in Sam but I shall not ruin that story, it is one you definitely need to discover for yourself.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a christmas gift for their son/daughter. It is a great read and easy to follow and will leave you needing to know what happens next in the story.
Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed it.
