When it comes to spending quality time with a loved one, a special occasion is a perfect excuse. With Christmas creeping up on us again, I thought I would get a head start with planning the family Xmas. It’s only a mere 18 weeks away from us and even though there is only 3 of us and a dog, I am planning the games and gifts already.
I’ve already been looking into some great recipe websites to find some recipes for traditional Christmas food. I have to admit that a lot of it looks pretty challenging and time-consuming. No wonder so many people buy it ready from the shops. Still, I feel I’ve reached the age where I need to conquer this. I think the cake will be enough to tackle this year.
I love shopping for Christmas presents, especially all those funny little gadgets that come out at this time of year. Novelty, geeky gifts make me smile, and I know they make great gift ideas for him. For the wonderful women in my family, I think I will be looking at some quality spa products. There are always some incredible gift packs available at Christmas. But I think I might put together a selection myself.
This year, I want our family Christmas tree to be even more awesome than ever. I’m thinking big, bright, and full of fairy lights. I have found some really cute lights to put on it. The trouble is, I could end up with so many different things that nothing works well together. It could be an eclectic mess! Still, it’s Christmas. I think it’s supposed to look over the top.
Christmas TV is a very big part of our traditional family Christmases. I haven’t seen the schedules yet, but I’m hoping for some of the old favourites like The Grinch and The Gruffalo. I can’t say we are big on the whole watching the Queen’s speech, it depends on whether we are in food coma by then!
It’s rare to get a white Christmas here, as much as it would great to go outside in the snow on the day itself. We normally try to have some christmas games prepared and had a brilliant game a couple of years ago which had us in stitches.
There is plenty to budget for this Christmas. I am keen to contribute something for Christmas this year, even if it’s only the cake! Much of the preparations will have to wait a while yet, though. Of course, gift buying can start right away. I just hope I don’t forget what I buy and buy more and more as I go on.
Have you started planning your christmas yet? Or already finished you shopping for the big day?
Thanks for reading.
