#DiscoverOrigins with Em Sheldon

This week I had the absolute pleasure of being one of the lucky selected few to attend the #DiscoverOrigins event in the new York store hosted by the lovely Em Sheldon.

I will hold my hands up at this early stage and say that Origins was not a brand I had ever tried. I was familiar with them and had seen Em rave about their products but had never plucked up the courage to spend the pennies in case it didn’t work for me. If you’re familiar with York, then the store is located down Stonegate near Little Betty’s and occupies the most characterful building with impressive original beams and slightly wonky feeling. This is part of the charm of a lot of buildings located in York and is one of the many reasons I love living a stone’s throw outside the city.

As we arrived, we were greeted with drinks by the lovely and nearby staff at The Botanist. Luckily for me, they spotted my giant 34 weeks bump and offered me some fantastic lemonade to quench my thirst for the evening.

Em had already arrived and was greeting everyone and getting to know people before the evening kicked off itself. Katie started off by telling us a little about the brand and how they had got to know Em, before Em herself talked us through her skincare journey and some of her favourite Origins products. Having followed her for a while now, I was already familiar with her thoughts on some of them but others were new to me, so it was great to find out more.

Then we had the chance to have a mini treatment; either a 5 minute facial or hand treatment. I opted for the facial to give myself a little pregnancy glow and was really impressed with both the products themselves but also by Hannah one of the store colleagues and the amount of knowledge and love she has for the brand.

We had lots of lovely nibbles to munch on throughout the evening and I ate some of the best brownies I have ever had! Cue a happy Laura and happy baby!

The evening was a great opportunity to talk to everyone else there who followed and was a fan of Em; from other bloggers to Instagrammers who might have been thinking about starting a blog and was a wonderful way to network with other York based folks or those that had travelled a little further.

I ended my evening by taking lots of photos and treating myself to the cleansing milk which Hannah had used on me during the facial before taking my very pregnant feeling self home to eat some more food and sleep. The whole evening really opened my eyes to what a fantastic brand Origins is and has made me want to treat myself to the whole range if I could. We also went away with a  fantastic little goodie bag of mini’s to try out which is always a good way to get me to buy more products as I soon fall in love with a mini and then it runs out 🙁

I want to end this post by sharing a few more snaps from the store with you but ultimately by thanking the fantastic colleagues in the store and from the pr team as well as the lovely Em for hosting and everyone who attended for looking after my huge pregnant self. Also if you haven’t tried Origins, then I would highly recommend it.

Laura x
