Freya’s 1st Birthday Party

I’ve been quiet on the old blog for the last 6 days and that’s because we celebrated Freya turning 1 and surviving 365 days as parents. We held a party for her on Sunday 16th September, 3 days before her actual birthday and on the day itself we took her to Sealife in Scarborough for a day out which she loved.

Now we are over 1 week after the party date, I thought id indulge in a bit of party spam and share a bit more about the day itself.

We hired our local village hall which is huge and has a big kitchen as well making it perfect for pre-party food prep on the day. We also decided to pay for an ultimate soft play and bouncy castle package from York Soft Play and I can confirm it was well worth the money.

We had 3 hours of bouncy, soft play fun and invited those near and dear to us including family and baby friends and their parents of course that we’ve made during the last year. My wonderful husband and our mums both contributed to the food purchase and preparation which we are very grateful for and I organised purchasing the decorations for the venue including a 12 month photo banner and happy birthday balloon as well as single balloons and banners.

When it came to party bags, I wanted to provide something but struggled initially to find something suitable for a group of 1-2 year olds. I decided on a mini slinky, a bottle of bubbles and our favourite Eat Real Veggie Straws for Kids.

The crisps are Freya’s favourite so I knew they had to be part of our birthday celebrations.

Overall the party was a massive success thanks to all the kind family and friends that joined us on the day itself. Freya had a great day but was exhausted once we got home and passed out asleep shortly after. I’m so glad we chose the party we did and were equally tired so rewarded ourselves with a well-earned alcoholic beverage.
